Updating GPU drivers (and how it can help)

Modified on Tue, 16 Sep at 3:08 PM

Your graphics card depends on drivers - software that keeps it running smoothly with your system and games.

Keeping these drivers up to date helps boost performance, fix crashes or visual glitches, and ensures your game works properly with the latest updates. Even new PCs can have outdated drivers, so it’s always worth a check.

NVIDIA (GeForce / RTX / GTX)

  1. Download and install the GeForce Experience app from:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/

  1. Open GeForce Experience → go to the Drivers tab.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. If an update is available, click Download, then Express Install.

Alternatively, you can download drivers directly from the NVIDIA website:

AMD (Radeon / RX / Vega)

  1. Download and install the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition from:

https://www.amd.com/en/support

  1. Open AMD Software → go to the Home or Driver & Software section.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. If an update is found, click Download, then follow on‑screen instructions.

Intel (Arc / Iris / UHD / HD Graphics)

  1. Download and install the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (Intel DSA) from:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

  1. Run the tool - it will automatically detect your GPU and suggest updates.
  2. Click Download and install for any graphics driver updates.

Note: Always restart your PC after installing new drivers to make sure changes take effect.

If you experience issues after an update, you can roll back to a previous driver from your GPU software or Windows Device Manager.
